June 18, 2010

Carol V. O'Shaughnessy, MA

This session provided background information on long-term services and supports (LTSS) and the Community Living Assistance Services and Supports (CLASS) program enacted as part of PPACA. Speakers discussed the population who needs LTSS, providers of LTSS, and major public and private financing sources for these services.  Other speakers discussed major provisions of the CLASS Act as well as issues being addressed by the Department of Health and Human Services in implementing the program, and how the private long-term care insurance sector may potentially work with CLASS program coverage.
