Marc Avery, MD, is clinical associate professor and associate director for clinical services at the AIMS Center, University of Washington School of Medicine. Dr. Avery has over 20 years of experience in the development and oversight of integrated behavioral health services focusing on community mental health and primary care settings. Dr. Avery has been recognized for his combined experience in community behavioral health care, health care integration, and behavioral health administration.
Dr. Avery received his medical degree from Wayne State University in Detroit, and completed a psychiatric residency at the University of California, San Francisco. After serving many years as a clinical psychiatrist and medical director at a regional community mental health center, he joined the faculty at the University of Washington School of Medicine, where he collaborates on a number of large collaborative-care implementation projects, including those in Washington State, California, Alaska, and Minnesota. He has recently given presentations on the subject of integrated health care at the annual conferences of the American Psychiatric Association and National Council of Community Behavioral Health. His awards include the Laughlin National Endowment Fund Award for excellence in residency training, and the Del Kole award for exceptional contribution in the field of community psychiatry in Washington State.
