Ed Salsberg, MPA, is currently director of Health Workforce Studies at the George Washington University Health Workforce Institute and on the faculty at the GW School of Nursing and the GW School of Public Health. Mr. Salsberg has successfully established and managed three health workforce research centers. He was the founding director of the National Center for Health Workforce Analysis in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, which was authorized by Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 (ACA). Mr. Salsberg previously established and directed the Center for Workforce Studies at the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) and the Center for Health Workforce Studies at the School of Public Health at the University at Albany of the State University of New York (SUNY). All three health workforce centers have been leaders in providing information on the supply, demand, distribution, and use of the health care workforce, and they have pioneered approaches to collecting health workforce data. From 1984 until 1996, Mr. Salsberg was a bureau director at the New York State Department of Health. He received his master's degree in public administration from the Wagner School at New York University.
