Implementing Incentives for Health IT: The Meaningful Use Regulation and Beyond
September 24, 2010

Lisa Sprague, MBA & Rob Cunningham, Consultant

This Forum session reviewed the thinking of the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services in deciding on a final rule for meaningful use, why they made some changes from the proposed rule and did not make others, and how they will measure success in achieving meaningful use. A panel of stakeholders discussed the benefits and challenges posed by the new rule and their own outlook for achieving the goals of the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) program.
