Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About SCHIP but Didn't Know Who to Ask…
March 30, 2007
On Friday, March 30, 2007, the National Health Policy Forum offered a follow-up to its February Medicare & Medicaid Briefings. This session was presented exclusively for congressional staff and was designed to lay the ground work for staff interested in the debate around the upcoming reauthorization of the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP). A panel of experts, including three SCHIP directors and one Medicaid director, offered information about the fundamental structure and financing of the program and answered audience questions about SCHIP. The format of the briefing was a facilitated discussion rather than formal presentations, with most of the time devoted to audience questions.
Tricia Brooks, President and Chief Executive Officer, New Hampshire Healthy Kids Corporation; Janette Lopez, Deputy Director, California Managed Risk Medical Insurance Board; Linda Nablo, Director, Division of Maternal & Child Health, Virginia Department of Medical Assistance Services; Cristal Thomas, Director, Ohio Department of Job and Family Services; Chris Peterson, Analyst in Social Legislation, Congressional Research Service; and Jennifer Ryan, Senior Research Associate, National Health Policy Forum.
