SCHIP in the Formative Years: An Update
September 21, 2000
Judith D. Moore
Three years after enactment of the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP), with all states having programs up and running and with enrollment continuing to increase throughout the country, this Forum session reviewed the status of the new SCHIP program from various perspectives. Topics addressed included enrollment and retention of children in the new programs, funding allotments and expenditures to date, evaluation activities planned and underway, and problems common to many states. The interaction between SCHIP and Medicaid was a subject of particular interest during the meeting.
