Robin J. Strongin
This half-day tutorial on pharmaceutical marketplace dynamics explained the workings of the marketplace by exploring topics such as competition, generics, intellectual property, research and development, pricing, and distribution. It also looked at federal programs, such as the Department of Veterans' Affairs federal supply schedule and Medicaid rebates. This session was followed by a briefing highlighting Prescription Drug Coverage, Spending, Utilization, and Prices, the April 2000 report to the president from the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation (ASPE), Department of Health and Human Services.
